What is an Alberta partnership?
A partnership is a legal relationship between two or more individuals, corporations, trusts or other entities who collaborate to operate a business with the intention of making a profit. Each partner contributes resources such as money, property, labour or skills, and shares in the business’s profits and losses. Registering it puts the partnership name and the partners on the public record with Alberta Corporate Registry.
One person running a business under a name that is not their own registers a trade name instead.
What you will need
- The partnership name, what the business does, where in Alberta it operates and when it started.
- Every partner’s details: name, occupation and address for an individual, or the corporation name and corporate access number. At least two partners.
- A photo of your driver’s licence or passport.
- Optional: a NUANS name search report. Bring your own, or add one to the order for $36.75.
Registration pricing starts at $70.00 including the government fee and GST. We prepare the declaration, send you a pre-registration confirmation to approve, then file it, usually the same business day.
