Alberta Societies and non-profit Annual returns.

Annual Returns – Societies and Non-profit corporations.

Annual return is a yearly filing for your Corporation, Non-profit or Society with Alberta corporate registries. It is a mandatory filing required by the Government of Alberta.

Annual returns must be filed yearly to:

Maintain Good Standing of your company

Keep an up-to-date public Records.

Prove active operations of your business.

Due Date: It is due every year by the end of the month that matches your original date of registration. For example: If your non-profit corporation or society was registered in August, you should file your annual return by the end of September.

Consequences of Missing It: If you fail to file, the province can strike or dissolve your corporation rendering it inactive, which stops you from legally operating it.

Note: Society or Non-profit Company annual return is a different filing requirement from the yearly tax returns with Canada Revenue Agency.

Annual returns for societies and non-profit organizations must be submitted directly to Alberta Corporate Registry to be registered for now until February 2027.

Please Note

Starting February 2027, Annual returns of Societies and Non-Profits can be filed through authorized Alberta service providers (Alberta Registries).

We will be offering this as an online service as well as over the counter. Stay tuned.
