Drivers Abstracts are Now Available Online!

You have the option of either a Standard or Commercial abstract.

Both Standard and Commercial Driver Abstracts provide the current status of a driver’s licence, lists conviction information, and any applicable demerit points and suspensions; however, it does not confirm a client’s driving experience, nor their date first licenced.

If an individual’s Alberta driver’s licence has been invalid for more than 6 months, the driver’s licence number, issue date, expiry date and class of licence will not appear on the abstract.

The driver abstract doesn’t show the individual's driving experience or the date first licensed.

Order Your Driver's Abstract

Standard Drivers Abstract

A Standard Driver contains the following:

  • Client’s Name & Address
  • Driver’s Licence Number & MVID
  • Licence Class
  • Issue Date / Expiration Date
  • Date of Birth
  • Height / Weight /Sex
  • Current Demerit Points
  • Suspension Status
  • Reinstatement Conditions (if any)
  • List of Violations (descriptions, demerit/merit points and suspension term)

Commercial Drivers Abstract

A Commercial Driver Abstract contains the following:

  • Client’s Name & Address
  • Driver’s Licence Number & MVID
  • Licence Class
  • Issue Date / Expiration Date
  • Current Demerit Points
  • Suspension Status
  • Reinstatement Conditions (if any)
  • List of Violations (descriptions, demerit/merit points and suspension term)
  • Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Inspection information

Ordering Options

There are 2 options to place your order. Please select preference below for additional information.

This service is only available for Alberta residents. If you live outside of Alberta please follow the Information Sheet.
Are you a senior (65 or over)? You are eligible for a 25% discount on a variety of services including Driver's Abstracts.
If you qualify and wish to receive the discount, please visit our office to place your order. For additional information, please contact us.

This service is only available if you are ordering your own abstract. 3rd party abstract ordering must be done in office. For more information, please visit Alberta.ca

If our staff have reason to believe that a 3rd party is ordering your abstract, or you are using this service from outside of Alberta, it will be rejected. (Your IP address location will be logged)

This service is being provided online as an accommodation by the Government of Alberta for remote services during the Covid pandemic. This service may be discontinued without notice.

Step 1. Print out and complete the Abstract Request Form. Please remember to sign the form.

Note: Digital signatures can NOT be accepted. (e.g. DocuSign) This form will need to be scanned and uploaded to our secure site.

Step 2. Complete the required fields on the web page.

Step 3. Upload your completed/signed request form and a photo of your drivers licence.

Step 4. Make the payment online with credit card.

Obtaining Results

Abstracts must be returned by secure email. You will receive an email sent from Proton Mail with your abstract as a PDF attachment.

Non-Alberta Ordering Instructions

Orders will be processed within 24 hours of receipt, during our operating hours. Please note we are closed on statutory holidays.

To purchase an abstract through the My Alberta eServices website you will require an "Alberta.ca Account".
  • If the information on your Alberta.ca Account does not match what is recorded in the Motor Vehicles System, please visit our office in person to obtain your driver’s abstract OR
  • Use the "Order through Our Office" option above.
